In this latest episode of Consulting Conversations, Director of Consulting Hank Harris explains
I don't believe there are any certifications that have to be had to be a consultant. Consultants are a broad term. I came up in management consulting, and it's always consulting to businesses.
If you look at the big firms that do that, they do tend to employ or, historically anyway, they tend to employ mostly MBAs. These days I think their hiring criteria has broadened, but most forms of business and management consultant I think you see MBAs is kind of the standard-bearers of that. But it's not a requirement.
Q: What makes certifications valuable?
I do think there's a certification put out by the institute of management consultants, and I think it does have some value. If nothing else, it shows a consultant's commitment to the profession and shows that they've been willing to put out some effort to study and procure the certification. So I think there's some value to that.
We'd love to hear from any private business hunt owner in North Carolina that thinks we could be of some help to them in understanding how their business gets better or where it might go in the future.
